Board of Directors

PRESIDENT, Terry Bachmeier

Terry Bachmeier is an office manager and bookkeeper at the Morrison Brothers Ranch in Gilbert, Arizona. He possesses a strong background in foreign language studies, including Spanish, German, French and Japanese. Bachmeier served as Sunday school superintendent and on several key planning committees of his church including serving as a youth counselor/teacher for over 20 years. He has completed extensive personal religious studies. Active in aiding the criminal justice system, Bachmeier conducts weekly pastoral visits to Arizona's juvenile prisons north of Phoenix and serves on the Arizona Task Force of Justice Fellowship, works on the National Advisory Group to improve the criminal justice system, including prisons, and protect victim's rights on a state by state basis. He serves as the Resident Chaplain at the Maricopa County Southeast Juvenile Detention Facility on a part time basis and has done so since 1996, serving as Assistant Chaplain for several years prior to becoming the resident Chaplain.   Terry was appointed on July 2011 to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Mayville State University Foundation in North Dakota.  Previously, Bachmeier has served on the Maricopa Clinical Management Board, East Valley Behavioral Health Citizens Advisory Council, and East Valley Behavioral Health Association's Board, and currently serves on the board of directors of the Arizona Foundation for Behavioral Health. Honors for community contributions include Outstanding Volunteer Service Award of Arizona Department of Youth Treatment and Rehabilitation in 1993, and Nominee for Volunteer of the Year of Arizona Administrator's Association, 1994. In addition to serving on the Foundation Board, Terry serves on the Arizona Behavioral Health Corporation Board of Directors.

 

SECRETARY, Sue F. Davis

Sue Davis is Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Foundation for Behavioral Health (AFBH) and Board Treasurer of the Arizona Behavioral Health Corporation (ABC). She took early retirement from a teaching career “to keep her son alive” when he developed schizophrenia while a student at MIT and the family's health insurance disenrolled him from coverage because chronic mental illness was not a covered benefit. Davis co-chairs the Magellan of Arizona Governance Board, has served on the Arizona State Hospital Governing Body for the past 20 years, and is a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training presenter. Prior to these positions she served six years as an officer on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), six years as President of NAMI Arizona and nine as Executive Director. She opened the Mental Illness Information & Family Support Center in Phoenix that provides education, emotional support, and advocacy. Davis received special commendation in 2004 from Governor Janet Napolitano for her many years of voluntary service on boards, councils, commissions, and committees as a spokesperson and advocate for persons affected by serious mental illnesses.

TREASURER, Sue Gilbertson

Sue Gilbertson has served on a number of mental health organizations both nationally and locally. She is a member of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Arizona and was the co-founder of a predecessor to NAMI Phoenix. She served nationally on the Board of Directors of NAMI's Child and Adolescent Network. She serves on the Arizona Behavioral Health Corporation's board and is the Treasurer for the Arizona Foundation for Behavioral Health. She served on the Arizona Children's Behavioral Health Council and was the board member of the Mental Health Association of Arizona. Ms. Gilbertson is a long time member and past president of the State's Behavioral Health Planning Council. In 1987, Sue founded Mentally Ill Kids in Distress (MIKID) and holds a lifetime seat on its board of directors. She is a member of the Mental Health Guild and a board member of Visions of Hope Arizona. Sue serves as Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and is a member of Homeland Security through her involvement with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. She holds a bachelor's degree in business and economics from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Julie Prue Cauich

Julie Prue Cauich, CPA is a shareholder with the firm Hunter Hagan & Company, Ltd. in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has over 20 years of public accounting experience along with prior experience in private industry accounting. Julie joined the firm in 1996 and has developed specialization in all areas of financial statement preparation. Julie provides essential financial services to our clients including planning, supervising and reporting on their financial statements; preparing cash flow analysis, budgets, and prospective financial statements. Additionally, Julie has extensive experience in tax planning and compliance for closely held businesses. Julie has a strong background in serving clients in the health care and real estate development industries which makes her a valuable asset for the firm in providing our clients with industry-specific accounting solutions and consulting services.

George Diaz

George Diaz is a native Phoenician with 16 years of challenging experience in the public affairs industry. George's career began at the Arizona House of Representatives as a majority committee intern in January of 1996. Since then George has worked in the Government Relations office of the Maricopa Community College District as a Legislative Assistant (January 1997), the Executive Office of the Administrative Office of the Court/Arizona Supreme Court as a Legislative Officer (August 1999), the Arizona Attorney General’s Office as Deputy Director of Government Affairs (January 2003) and the Pinnacle West Capital Corporation as Senior Public Affairs Representative (September of 2003). George currently serves as the Public Affairs Officer at the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission and as Principal of West Washington Strategies. George earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Arizona State University, is current Chairman of the Arizona State University Alumni Association and also serves on the governing boards of Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center, March of Dimes Arizona Chapter, and Los Diablos (a chapter of ASU Alumni).

Richard Dunseath

Richard Dunseath's business background includes Senior Vice President at Citicorp, President of the Phoenix Division of Biltmore Investors Bank, Regional Vice President of United Bank of Arizona and owner of Epic Signs, Inc.  He currently manages investments including stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate.  His previous community service includes:  President of the Scottsdale Arts Center Association, Board of Directors of the Robert Morris Association, Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Central Arizona, President of Phoenix Rotary 100, and Coach of several Little League Baseball and Soccer teams.

Wendy Gilbertson

Wendy Gilbertson serves on the Board of the Arizona Behavioral Health Corporation (ABC) and the Arizona Foundation for Behavioral Health.   Ms. Gilbertson serves as Secretary for ABC. Wendy completed her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Grand Canyon University in 2006.  She graduated Cum Laude and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She served as a registered nurse in wound care at St. Luke’s and Paradise Valley Hospitals in Maricopa County. She is a member of NAMI (National Alliance On Mental Illness) Arizona. She has previously served on committees associated with the Arizona Department of Health Services'  Division of Behavioral Health and the Arizona State Hospital.  Prior to completing her nursing degree Ms. Gilbertson was active with MIKID (Mentally Ill Kids In Distress).  Currently Wendy is a full time student at Georgetown University studying to receive her Family Nurse Practitioner degree.

Deborah Gross

Deborah is a licensed psychologist with a practice focus in corrections. She has worked for NAMI Arizona, ValuOptions, MARC Center, Arizona Department of Corrections, and Correctional Health Services of Maricopa County. Deborah received her B.A. from the University of Washington in 1977 and her J.D. degree from New England School of Law in Boston in 1981. Dr. Gross earned her M.A. in clinical psychology in 2001 and a doctoral degree in 2004 from Argosy University in Phoenix. Dr. Gross is a Board member for the Arizona Coalition for Tomorrow (ACT) and the Deer Valley Pilots Association. Deborah is past President a member of the Board of The Star Centers, formerly know as S.O.O.N. (Survivors on Our Own).

William (Bill) Lage

Bill Lage has over 19 years of IT solutions and consulting experience across a broad array of vertical markets. As President of Intertec International, Micra's parent company, he is responsible for Intertec’s IT Services global business. Prior to joining Intertec, Bill spent the past fourteen years with a large publicly-traded services organization focusing on IT solutions. There, he progressed through several positions which included overseeing all IT sales, encompassing P&L responsibility, help desk, managed services, and application development & maintenance. He also served as Senior Vice President responsible for US IT sales, consulting, outsourcing, on-demand, and direct placement. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University.

Laura Lawless Robertson

Laura Lawless Robertson focuses her practice on labor and employment issues and on general  litigation matters. Laura represents employers facing claims by current and former employees alleging sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, and wage/hour violations. She also represents employers against claims of discrimination on the basis of disability, gender, age, race, national origin and religion. In addition, she serves on various community boards including Harvard University Club of Phoenix, the Maricopa County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section, Recovery Innovations, Inc., Harvard University Phoenix Area Schools and Scholarship Committee, as a member of the Speakers on Healthcare Speakers' Bureau of the Valley of the Sun Human Resources Association, Bar Leadership Institute of Arizona (2011-2012) and previously served on The Institute for Mental Health Research. Ms. Robertson received her J.D., magna cum laude, Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, 2005 and her B.A., cum laude, Harvard University, 2000.

Nick Margiotta

Nick Margiotta as a Phoenix police officer in the Community Relations Bureau. He is the Crisis Intervention Training coordinator for the department, in partnership with Magellan Health Services. Mr. Margiotta is a certified Spanish Speaker and is actively involved in issues affecting the chronically homeless and severely mentally ill individuals, service providers, community partners and the behavioral health system. Nick has a Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and a Master's degree from Northern Arizona University. He has served on the Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness, Maricopa County Meth Task Force, the Lodestar Day Resource Center Advisory Board, and on the Work Group Committee for the Urgent Psychiatric Care Center.

David C. Tierney

David Tierney is a litigator practicing primarily in commercial Construction Law.  He has been a partner in the Phoenix firm Sacks Tierney P.A. since 1974.  Mr. Tierney received his B.A. degree from Brandeis University and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1965.  He was Clerk to Justice Reardon, Massachusetts Supreme Court; a Peace Corps volunteer (still fluent in Spanish); and former Chairman of the Governor’s Task Force on Computers in Education.  Mr. Tierney is the past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Risk Management (self-insurance for Maricopa County); a past Chairman of the State Bar Construction Law Section and of the State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section; an arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association in Phoenix; the Chairman of the Restorative Justice Resources Council, Inc.; the Chairman of the Irish American Cultural Institute Chapter in Phoenix; and President and Board member of the Arizona Coalition for Tomorrow (a Head Start-related entity).  He is the Chairman Elect of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Community Board.  In October 1998, the National Association of Probation Executives presented the William Faches Award to Mr. Tierney.  Mr. Tierney is a former Adjunct Professor at ASU Law School teaching Construction Law.  He is a Life Member of the American Bar Association Fellows.  In 2006, Mr. Tierney received the Supreme Court of Arizona Award for Improving the Legal System through Public Service.  In 2008, he received the Judge Learned Hand Award for Public Service as a lawyer from the American Jewish Committee

Michael Wilson

Michael Wilson is a retired administrator of community service at the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections in Phoenix, Arizona for over 28 years. Prior to his current post, he served as a youth parole supervisor and victim’s rights administrator for the department, and has also worked as a counselor at Diversion of Violent Emotions (D.O.V.E.), in addition to other positions throughout his extensive career within the justice system. He serves on a variety of community boards, including the YMCA Ahwatukee/Foothills board of directors, and the Intern Advisory Committee at ASU's School of Social Work. He has also volunteered with City Dads, Inc., a gang prevention program, and served as commissioner for the City of Phoenix Youth Commission. Wilson's professional affiliations include the Arizona Coalition for Victim Services, the National Victim Center, the Arizona Counseling Association, and many more. He holds a master's of education degree in counseling from Northern Arizona University and a bachelor's of science degree in social welfare from Arizona State University.
